RODGERS, Charles Edwin - Age 78, of Linden, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 AM Friday, June 11, 2004 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Fr. David Harvey and Fr. Roy Horning concelebrating. Interment in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Wednesday, 1-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden, with a vigil service at 7 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. John Church or the Linden High School Athletic Department. Mr. Rodgers was born July 7, 1925 in Lapeer the son of Roy and Nellie (Hastings) Rodgers. He had resided in Linden for over 70 years. He was a graduate of Linden High School and Tri-State University, Angola, IN. Mr. Rodgers was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army in communications in the 35th infantry unit, and was awarded a Bronze Star. He married Patricia A. LaLone on June 17, 1950. Mr. Rodgers had worked for Linden Lumber and Fenton Lumber. He owned and operated Rodgers Construction. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Linden VFW Post 4642. He had served on the Linden School Board and Linden City Council. Surviving are: wife, Patricia; 6 children, Pamela Key of Carney, MI, Rebecca Stockero of Linden, Douglas and wife Sue of Dexter, Patrick and wife Karen of Linden, Paula and husband Richard Gisewhite of Linden, Denise and husband Jim Lucky of Mason, OH; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen Singer, Ruth Murphy, Delores and husband Bill Auker all of Florida; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Ralph, Gene, Roy Jr., Bernard, and Burnett; sister, Mary McMillan; and son-in-law, Larry Key.
