Charles Lucia

LUCIA, Charles Lewis - Age 87, of Davison, died Friday, May 6, 2022.  In accordance with Charles wishes cremation has taken place and no services have been scheduled at this time.  Those desiring may make contributions to the Flint Junior Golf Association, P.O. Box 90377, Burton, MI 48509.

Charles was born October 29, 1934, in Flint, the son of Howard and Victoria (Gage) Lucia.  He was a 1952 graduate of Kearsley High School with several varsity letters including a special gold one.  He received his bachelor's degree from Greenville Christian College and his master degree from Michigan State University.  He married Patricia Ann Wheeler July 20, 1954, in Bethany, IL and she preceded him in death August 6, 2020.  He had resided in Davison for the past 3 years coming from Flint.  Charles retired from the Flushing Community Schools as a High School Teacher and Varsity Basketball Coach.  He was an avid golfer winning hundreds of tournaments including the Michigan Senior Open and recording 18 holes-in-one. He was inducted into 3 athletic hall of fames including his college hall of fame.

Surviving are: his children, Chad (Rebecca) Lucia, Viqui (Robert) Damer, Lei Ann (Brenda) Lee, Layne (Kali) Lucia, and Devra Burton; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Howard Lucia, Arthur Lucia, and Raymond Niles.  Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
