Charles Avila King II, D.O.

KING, Charles Avila II, D.O. - age 82, of Flint Twp., died December 29, 2023. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3139 Hogarth Ave, Flint, MI 48532 with Rev. Fr. Anthony Strouse celebrant. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. The family will receive friends from 9 AM - 10 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dr. Mary King Long Scholarship Fund. Charlie was born March 27, 1941 in Springville, UT, the son of Dr. Charles Avila King and Dr. Mary (Williamson) King Long. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Residency in surgery at Flint Osteopathic Hospital, was board certified in General Surgery, and practiced General Surgery until his stroke at age 36. Charlie then opened and operated Montrose Clinic of Family Medicine. He returned to school and graduated from Michigan State University Department of Radiology where he had a Fellowship in MRI and was a Clinical Professor. He was board certified in General Radiology and practiced Radiology in private practice and at Genesys Regional Medical Center until his retirement in 2001. Charlie married Donna Jean Orin on August 16, 1991. Charlie was an avid golfer, snow skier, and an instrument rated private pilot. Charlie loved to fly and loved cars. Surviving are: wife, Donna King; three children, Charles Avila King III of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Brandy Lee (Jerry) Wood of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Sherry Ann (Logan) Dreasky of DeWitt, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Chloe and Sophie King, Claudia, Henry and Eric Wood, Avery, Kaygan, and Anna Dreasky; sister, Dr. Mary Adele King of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Charles A. King; mother, Dr. Mary King Long; three sisters, Karen K. King, Dr. Judy King Cotter, and Margie King Berry.
