Charles JOHNSON

Johnson, Charles Ray, age 79, passed from this earth on October 23, 2010. Chuck was born in Tawas, MI on October 20, 1931 to Charles and Nora (Greve)Johnson. Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc Township, with Dr. Brian Stogner, of Bristol Road Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and Monday 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and/or the American Diabetes Association. Chuck attended Central High School and served with the US Marine Corps. He worked for GM and retired from AC Spark Plug in 1990 after 44 years. Chuck married Jerrie Harrison and they would have celebrated 60 years together on January 6, 2011. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Matthew from Nashville, TN, Timothy (Susan), of Flint, and Michael (Billie) of Burton. There are three granchildren, Andrew (Rachel) of Nashville, TN, Jennifer of Troy, MI, and Elizabeth of Burton. Chuck competed in cutting with his quarter horse, Cody, for many years and then raised and trained miniature horses with his partner and long-time friend, Sue McMillin. His greatest joy was being with his children and grandchildren. Holidays spent with the whole family were a special time. Chuck is survived by 3 sisters, EstherBell Kirsch, Iina (Howard) Mabrey, and Dawnette Townsend; 2 brothers, Audie (Esther) and Mark (Jane); two sister-in-laws, Joyce Harrison and Sandra (Phil) Frost. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and in-laws, Charles and Nora Johnson and Everett and Hilda Harrison and sister, Dorthy Palovich.
