IRWIN, Charles J. - Age 85, of Flint, died Monday, February 20, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, February 24, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Rev. Grant Wessel officiating. Interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery with a VFW Honor Guard service under the auspices of V.F.W. Chevrolet Post 3087. Visitation will be held 5 - 8:30 PM Wednesday, 10 AM - 2 PM and 5 - 8:30 PM Thursday. A Masonic service will be held 7 PM Thursday under the auspices of the F. & A.M. Lodge 458. Mr. Irwin was born October 28, 1921 in Kendalls, MI, the son of William and Bessie (Neale) Irwin. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II as Military Police. He was married to Reva Jerls in 1940 in Flint. Mr. Irwin was employed at GM Ternstedt as supervisor of plant security and fire protection, retiring in 1980 with 38 years of service. He was a member of Dimond United Methodist Church and a life member of Masonic Lodge #458. He is survived by his wife, Reva; two grandsons, Michael and wife Sandy of Flint, Jeffrey of Royal Oak; granddaughter, Jeaneen Dice of Montrose; five great-grandchildren, Nicole, Hannah, Brentt, Khrista, and Brittany; Â grandsons, Chris Gutshall of Owosso, Mike Gutshall of Tennessee; one great-great granddaughter, Mariah; two sisters, Charlene Heistand, Maxine Hamacher, both of Kalamazoo; three nieces.
