Charles F. HOUGHTON

HOUGHTON, Charles F. Jr. - age 82, of Howell, formerly of Warwick, RI (Norwood), died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. Military services will be held 10 AM Friday, May 6, 2011 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. A Memorial will be held following the graveside service at 11 AM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden (no suit or tie required). Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or Alzheimer's Association. Charles was born July 7, 1928 in Providence, RI, the son of Charles F. and Henrietta (Abrams) Houghton. He was a veteran of the Air Force and Army National Guard. Charles was married to Doris M. Paris on September 15, 1952. He retired from Brown and Sharpe Manufacturing in 1993. Mr. Houghton attended Oakgrove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, building and fishing. He was a doting father, loving grandfather and a great role model. Surviving are: wife, Doris; children, Charles F. Houghton III and wife Cindy, Daniel Houghton and wife Sandy, Art Houghton and wife Millie, Donna Sherman, Doris Heitke, Diane Smith, Ken Houghton and wife Kerry; special granddaughter, Malinda Erickson and husband Lee; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
