GOTTSCHALK, Charles Leland "Lee" - age 87, of Mt. Morris died Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Regency at Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Visitation will be held 3-9 PM Friday and 10 AM - 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Lee was born June 10, 1928 in Mundy Township, the son of Clarence James and Dorothy (Waltz) Gottschalk. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving in the Korean War. Lee married Lura Jean Smithers on October 18, 1952 and she preceded him in death on June 10, 1995. He retired from General Motors in 1989 after 36 years. Lee was an elder and deacon at Mundy Presbyterian Church for many years. He was the Charter President and member of the Lions Club in Rankin. Lee loved working outdoors, woodworking and Detroit Tigers baseball. Surviving are: daughter, Gloria J. (Chester) Ptasnik of Montrose; son, Randall Lee (Wendy) Gottschalk of Burton; five grandchildren, Jeremy R. Jackson, Randall L. Gottschalk, Jr. Trevor C. Gottschalk, Aaron V. Gottschalk, and Carolyn M. Hoard, John Whitmer; nine great-grandchildren; loving companion of many years, Fran Dickerson and her children; Karen (Mark) Ryan, Pam (Van) Blue, Alan (Cindy) Babcock, Kevin (Kim) Babcock and their families, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; including special, granddaughter, Jade; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three granddaughters, Miranda Gottschalk, Cassandra Whitmer and Melissa Whitmer; great-grandson, Brecken; and his brothers and sisters.
