GILLES, Charles Edward, age 93, of Swartz Creek, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Parish, 3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint with Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 5:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Charles was born August 14, 1917 in Flushing. He married Mildred Gross on June 17, 1950 in Maple Grove. Charles was employed for 38 years at General Motors as a Skilled Trades in Chevrolet Manufacturing. He served in the Army as a corporal in WWII. Charles loved Detroit Tigers Baseball. He was a member of the U.A.W. local 659; and a member of the Eagles. He was also a member of St. Pius X Catholic Parish. Family was very important to him. Charles took great pride in providing for his family and he instilled that value in his children where it continues today. Surviving are his wife, Mildred; 4 children, Noreen Navarre of Fenton, David Gilles (Wanda) of Brighton, Barb Bishop (Denny) of Fenton, Duane Gilles of Grand Blanc; 4 grandchildren, Walter Ryan Burnett (Danielle), Briahna Carey, Melissa Gilles, Chad Gilles; step granddaughter, Audra Whitt (Larry); several great grandchildren; sister, Lucille "Duke" Rousseau; brother, Joe Gilles; dear friend, John Briggs (Pearl).
