Charles Eckert

Eckert, Charles T. - Age 82 of Flint, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, December 29 at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 2051 W. Maple Ave., Flint. Pastor Mark Pretznow officiating. Interment will be in Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Road, Flint; and 1-2 PM Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be greatly appreciated to Humane Society of Genesee County or Michigan Parkinson Foundation. Charles was born April 16, 1936 in Flint, the son of Ernest and Opal (Polk) Eckert. He was a life long resident of Flint. Charles married Barbara Jane Peters in Flint on June 23, 1956. He was employed by GM at the Flint Engine Plant for 40 years of dedicated service. He is survived by: his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara; devoted children, Charles T. Jr. (Mary) and Laurie (Mike) Martin; 2 grandsons, Brett A. Eckert and Phillip R. Eckert; sisters-in-law, Ardis (Peters) Stewart, Berneice (Peters) Thomas, and Jane (Rose) Eckert; brother-in-law, Victor Thomas; aunt Hazel and Uncle Al Statler of St. Louis, MO; many cousins, nephews, and special nieces, Kerri Lane and Sundae Ford. He was preceded in death by: his parents Opal and Ernest Eckert; and beloved brother Ernest Eckert, Jr. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Tina, Amy, Jessica, and Anita, our amazing caregivers.
