CHRISTMAN, Charles Eugene - age 91, of Fenton, formerly of Jackson, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 25, 2011 at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 309 S. Jackson St., Jackson. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Jackson Audubon Society. Charles was born September 3, 1919 in Lansing, the son of Glen Arlington and Helen Beecher (Evans) Christman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific during World War II where he earned a Bronze Star. Charles married Barbara Dorothy Chesley on July 26, 1942 in Washington D.C. and she preceded him in death on May 8, 2009. Mr. Christman was co-owner of Western Stamping in Jackson. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Jackson and an active member of Jackson Audubon Society. His love for birds led him to be a World traveler including South Africa and Australia. He was the youngest, and last member to be accepted into the Beta Phi Sigma Fraternity, in Jackson. Surviving are: two daughters, Kay and husband, Michael Eicher of Maple City, MI, Barbara and husband, Steven Altenberndt of Fenton; three grandchildren, Charles McGonegal and wife, Milissa, Robyn and Chelsea Schmidt; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Asa McGonegal.
