Charlene Joy (Price) Martin, age 91, of Flint Township, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Symphony Linden. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Byron Cemetery in Byron Village, MI. The service will be presided by Pastor Dean Dumbrille.
Charlene was born on January 26, 1933, in Flint to the late Nelson Sr. and Florence (Loree) Price. She was actively involved in various high school sports and proudly graduated from Kearsley High School in 1951. Charlene's love story with Howard Eugene Martin began in 1949 at Myers Lake in Byron, MI, where their shared interest in roller skating blossomed into a lifelong companionship. In July 1950, she was united in marriage to Howard Eugene Martin, a skilled carpenter. Together they raised their five children in the Swartz Creek area.
Throughout her life, Charlene exemplified a strong work ethic. She dedicated many years to being an office worker at Sears in the Genesee Valley Mall and Universal Lift until her retirement at the age of 86. An avid gardener, she spent her springs, summers, and falls nurturing her flowerbeds with care and attention to detail.
Charlene is survived by her children: Deborah Lee (Martin) (Henry) Humphrey of Flint Twp., Karen Charlene (Martin) (Johnson) Ford of Arizona, Owen Dwayne Martin and his wife Kim of New York; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and brother, Eldon and his wife Velma Price of Swartz Creek.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nelson Price Sr.; mother, Florence Oskey; two sons, Douglas Eugene Martin and Kenneth Iloe Martin; and her siblings, Warren and his wife Wanda Price, Maybelle (Price) Foster, MaryEllen (Price) Harmon, and Nelson M. Price Jr. Charlene will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her unwavering dedication to family, her impeccable work ethic, and her love for gardening. Tributes may be shared at
