BRIGGS, Charlene Frances - Age 87, of Durand, formerly of Byron, died June 12, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Visitation will be held 1-3 & 5-8 PM Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to the National Parkinson's Foundation. Charlene was born January 24, 1930 in Flint, the daughter of Donald and Emily (Gillis) McMillan. She was married to Gordon L. Briggs on December 23, 1950. Charlene worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for many years. She was a member of AAMT and Byron VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are: son, Craig and wife Lorilynn Briggs; grandchildren, Justin and Christopher Briggs, Angela Petry Watson and Amanda Petry; 15 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Thomas FitzPatrick; sister, Emily (George) Stevens; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; daughter, Julie Petry; brothers, Wesley McMillan and Robert McMillan; nephew, Bill Briggs; sister-in-law, Betty Briggs.
