Wang, Cecilia Chiu-Wan - of Flint Twp, was called to our Lord's side after a long and courageous battle with illness on July 11, 2005 while at University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. Born on November 24, 1942 in Anhui Province, China, Cecilia's father, a scholar, fled with his family to Taiwan to escape Communist rule. She grew up in Taiwan, received a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Literature from Taiwan Normal University, and quickly became a popular high school teacher. She married Paul Sun-Chi Wang on August 25, 1968, and came to the United States in 1971, living in Utah until she moved to Flint in 1973.Cecilia was a noble, classy, and strong woman of character who spent the latter part of her life pursuing a relationship with Jesus Christ, and she always placed her family before herself. She was humble and steadfast in her beliefs and quietly, but powerfully, impacted anyone with whom she came into contact. Cecilia loved spending time with her family, made the most delectable Chinese food, traveled the globe, and enjoyed attending both Central Church of the Nazarene and Oakland Chinese Church. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, listening to music and working out at the fitness center.  Cecilia had keen insight and an intuitive discernment about people. She was a patient and responsive listener and confidante, and shared all of herself with her family and friends. Cecilia is sadly missed by: her husband of 37 years, Paul; daughter Louise and husband Rocky Weldon of Perry; son Gary Wang and fiancâ?se Allison Miller of Boston, MA; sister Kate and husband George Mei of Taiwan; brother D. K. Shih of San Francisco, CA; brother Stanley Shih of Taiwan; cousin Jo Li of Cerritos, CA; nieces whom she loved dearly, Michelle Wu, Fu-I Mei and Fion Chin; Special memories will remain forever with her grandson, Grant Weldon, her 'Xin Gan Bao Bei.' We will long for her wisdom in the days to come. A celebration service honoring Cecilia's life will be held at 10AM on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Central Church of the Nazarene, G1261 W. Bristol Road, Flint. Services at Sunset Hills G4413 Flushing Road, Flint at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central Church of the Nazarene and Oakland Chinese Church.
