CHRISTENSON, Cathy Lynn - Age 47, died on Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Flint at Avalon Hospice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30AM Friday, July 10, 2009 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach St., Flint, Fr. John Flynn OSA, celebrant. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 1-8PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and from 10AM Friday until time of Mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossover Outreach Ministries, 414 W. Court St., Flint 48503. Cathy was born in Flint on June 24, 1962 to Dale and Joan (Harper) Christenson. She was smart, funny and beautiful. Cathy graduated from Carman High School in 1980 and then attended the University of Michigan - Flint, where she majored in theater. Cathy graduated from Peter Kump's New York Cooking School and was a talented chef. She was preceded in death by her father in 2007 and by her beloved cat, Eisha Mae in 2004. She is survived by her mother, Joan Christenson of Flint; her sisters, Nancy Christenson of Mesa, AZ and Salli Christenson (Mike Gould) of Ann Arbor, MI; and her ex-husband, Jeffrey Torrey of Linden, MI, with whom she remained close. Cathy was known for her love of babies and children, her pursuit of the finer things in life and her large collection of fabulous hats, which she wore with great panache.
