Catalina Acedo-Blands

ACEDO-BLANDS, Catalina V. - Age 92, of Flint formerly of Ann Arbor, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Catalina was born in Arequipa, Peru on February 14, 1924 the daughter of the late Raul Caudros and Benita Velasquez Malaga. She married Svend O. Blands on September 6, 1979 in Flint. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Blands graduated from U of M Ann Arbor with a Master of Science, Ph.D and a Master of Public Health. She taught dental hygiene at Mott Community College, enjoyed politics and had several articles published in many science magazines. Surviving are: son, William (Helen) Acedo Jr. of Grand Blanc; sister-in-law, Griselda Cuadros; nephews, Paul and Sergio Cuadros; grandchildren, Rachel Acedo, Taryn Acedo, Amanda Myers, Heidi Myers, Michael Myers, Natalie Myers; great grandchildren, Evelyn, Aeriana, Gracie and Sutton. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Alberto Cuadros and nephew, Alberto Cuadros. A special thank you to the staff, nurses, aids and hospice nurses at Heartland Fostrian.
