PICKENS, Carolyn S. Â Â Age 66, of Grand Blanc, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at Genesys Health Park. Services will be held 11 AM Friday, December 5, 2003 at Bristol United Methodist Church, G-5285 Van Slyke Rd., Flint with Pastor Olaf Lidums officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association. Mrs. Pickens was born June 5, 1937 in McRae, AR. She married James C. Pickens in April of 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1986. She moved to Flint in 1957 from McRae. Mrs. Pickens was the cook and house Mom for Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity on the campus of G.M.I. for 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, and especially cooking. Mrs. Pickens was a member of Bristol United Methodist Church where she was very active and enjoyed attending church. She loved her family, friends and helping others. Mrs. Pickens was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Surviving are: daughter, Vickie and husband, Rodney Hawkins of Grand Blanc and their children, Crystle and Shannon and doggie, Jeffy; son, Tony Pickens of Burton; sister, Tollice and husband, Steve Skripy of Deford, MI; niece, Tina and husband, Ken Middaugh of Kingston, MI and their children, Carter and Logan; two brothers, Charles Wayne and wife, Roselyn Ballard of Little Rock, AR, Billy Rae and wife, Roslyn Ballard of McRae, AR.
