DROWN, Carolyn Susanne "Susie" -- Age 71, of Flint Township, died February 7, 2012 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, February 11 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating. Interment in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation 3-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, and 10AM until the time of the funeral Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek, Hemophelia Foundation of Michigan, Diabetic Foundation of Michigan, Food Bank of Michigan or Crohn's & Ulcerative Colitis Foundation. Mrs. Drown was born October 8, 1940 in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Kenneth S. and Joyce A. (Harriott) Betz. She had resided in the Swartz Creek area since 1964. She married Terry L. Drown in 1965; he preceded her in death in 1996. Mrs. Drown attended Sienna Heights College and Adrian College for her undergraduate degree. She earned two Masters Degrees from Eastern Michigan University in Social Studies, and Guidance Counseling. She taught for Swartz Creek Schools for 30 years retiring in 1995. After retirement she worked at Marshall Fields for several years. She was an active member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. She was a Hurley Auxiliary volunteer and a member of the Red Hat Society. Surviving are: three sons, Douglas W. Pettit of Swartz Creek, Jason Drown of Flint Township, Joshua and wife Sara Drown of Flushing; three sisters, Patricia and husband John Walker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Nancy and husband Jim Koehn of Adrian, Maggie Betz of West Palm Beach, FL; nieces Laura Skaife, Lindsey Flynn; nephew Adam Zakka.
