Growing up in the Great Depression, Mom knew many homes, one of which was a family farm/orchard in Flint Township. Frost alerts brought many long nights with the family building and maintaining small fires throughout the orchard in order to keep the new buds on the trees safe. There were also long days picking fruits and vegetables to sell at their stand. This gave Mom her strong work ethic. The farms' chickens, rabbits, ducks and produce provided food for not only the McCoy family, but for others in the community who were in need. This home is where she met the love of her life. Dad was a suave young man who lived down the road. He would take short-cuts through the orchard in order to catch a glimpse of Mom’s beauty. Eventually, they started dating, fell in love, married, and brought nine children into the world, which resulted in 50+ grandchildren so far. The Ramberg house was always full, and our mother was like a second mother to many of our friends, as they loved to hang out in our home. It was common for her to invite family members or friends to live in our home, as she assisted them in one way or another to help get them back on their feet. She was positively brilliant in understanding human need, which encompassed care, attentiveness, commitment, consistency, and always, always forgiveness. There could be no greater teacher.
Even though she was not a true animal lover, pets were a constant in the Ramberg household. One of the latest canine loves was her grand dog Bella (Cathy’s miniature Pom), who in her small nine-inch stature, fiercely protected Mom when anyone would attempt to kiss her goodbye at the end of their visit. Mom also loved family get-togethers, watching baseball, soap operas, eating out, and especially McDonald's and Halo Burger hamburgers with Diet Coke.
Mom had a great desire to support many causes and individuals. If anyone wishes to make a memorial contribution in Her honor, you can donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or if you would like to keep it local, St. Luke N.E.W Life Center in Flint. This is a faith-based environment that provides life skills, education, and workplace training, empowering men and women to become self-sufficient. You could also simply tip your wait staff as generously as able as she had, with her in mind. Mom was known to tip the wait staff very generously. She even insisted on tipping workers at the drive through windows of fast food restaurants.
Carole will be sadly missed, especially by her dear sister, Diane Foster, who was her constant and devoted companion and friend; as well as her children, Cathy Neumann, (Robin Ramberg), Ann Marie (Larry) Hunt, Richard (Ilene) Ramberg, Cheryl (Greg) Boshaw, Teresa (Kevin) Tobin, Michelle (Jeff) Groesser, and David (Patti Jo) Ramberg, all of Swartz Creek, and Nancy (Mark) Neumann of Lambertville, MI., numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband Gordon E. Ramberg Sr., son Gordon Ramberg Jr., son-in-law Robert Neumann, sisters Eileen (Delbert) O’Neil, Vivienne (Arvid) Richardson, and Patty (Candelario) Ruiz, brother William McCoy, grandson Michael Ramberg, great grandson Jentery Farmer, great granddaughter Kaiya Furnace.
