SUMMERS, Carol -- Age 74, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Friday, July 28 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 31 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Wednesday, 1-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Swartz Creek Senior Center or the American Cancer Society. Â Carol was born November 16, 1931 in Durand the son of Harold and Ruth (Wagner) Summers. He had resided in Swartz Creek for over 50 years. He was married to Marilyn BeDen on November 28, 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He owned Summers Restaurant in Swartz Creek from 1967-1975 and owned and operated Summers Plumbing and Heating for 45 years. He was a member of the Swartz Creek VFW, American Legion, and Durand Eagles. He was an avid golfer. Mr. Summers is survived by: his wife Marilyn; six children, Pam and husband Mark Veselsky of Gaines, Karen Wenzlick-Summers of Flint Township, Rod Summers of Florida, Ron Summers and wife Roberta of Florida, Helen Summers of Florida, Patty and husband Scott Shumaker of Gaines; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Matthew Summers and wife Frances of California; sisters Mitzi Brady of Durand, Diane and husband Jim Pendergrass of California; several nieces and nephews.
