Carmen A. McGovern

McGOVERN, Carmen Adele - Age 90, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Flint, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at her residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, December 15 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint. Monsignor Richard Groshek celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with a scripture service at 5:30 PM. Mrs. McGovern was born July 20, 1917 in LeSeur, Minnesota, the daughter of Raymond Victor and Yvonne G. (Berthiaume) Schwartz. She married John Edward McGovern in 1940 in Flint, and he preceded her in death September 1, 1994. She had worked for Taystee Bakery in the business department for several years, then she worked for Mott Children's Health Center in the business department for over 10 years. Mrs. McGovern was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for over 55 years, and also a member of the Altar Society. She participated in the Flint Dance Club, and played in Bridge clubs for many years. She is survived by her sons, Dennis L. and wife, Linda McGovern of Sage Lake and Melbourne Beach, FL, K. Michael and wife, Judy McGovern of Grand Blanc; daughter-in-law, Karole McGovern of Palm Desert, CA; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Darrel Lokey, Jonathan and wife, Stephanie McGovern, David and wife, Melissa McGovern, Kelly and husband, Steve Steffey, Joseph McGovern; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Schwartz and Mary Ann McMillan, both of Flint; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John E.; son, John E. McGovern, Jr. in 2005; grandsons, K. Michael McGovern, II in 1998 and Steven M. McGovern in 2005; sister, Delores Trembley.
