BOYD, Carmen Zamarripa - Age 73, of Flint, died Saturday, July 30, 2022. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc (A live stream of the service will be available on Carmen's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Deacon Omar Odette officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 PM. Carmen was born May 26, 1949 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Apolonio and Josefa (Gatica) Zamarripa. She was a 1968 graduate of Beecher High School. She had resided in Flint for most of her life and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. In her youth Carmen became active in the Flint Mi Hispanic community by working at the Spanish speaking information center to help migrant workers acquire public resources and employment. Carmen retired from McLaren Bristol Rehab Center medical billing department. She enjoyed watching NASCAR to see her favorite driver Jeff Gordon. Her hobbies where crocheting and sewing. She enjoyed watching classic tv/movies/musicals such as Magnum P.I., Blue Bloods, Monk, Princess Bride, Mulan Rouge, The 1956 film The King and I, Gone with the Wind, Pirates of the Caribbean, all the current Asian drama series on Netflix and so many more. She loved to sing and dance to songs from Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Franky Valli, top 50-60's oldies and Hermanos Escamilla. She loved coffee with something sweet for breakfast, crab legs with butter on special occasions, Pinconning cheese with smoked salmon in the summer and a cup of hot tea in the winter. She always made sure her children where safe and called her best friends Susan and Mona or a family member to have a good laugh and a long conversation. Our mothers Laugh, Strong Will, good Heart and silly sense of Humor will be forever missed but always in our Hearts.
Surviving are: son, Genaro Gomez of Flint; daughter, Deana Boyd of Flint; grand puppies, Coco bean and Molly; 8 siblings; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and grand puppy, Bella. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
