Carl Steingraeber

STEINGRAEBER, Carl Herman - age 90, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, February 28, 2008. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at United in Christ Lutheran Church 6330 Corunna Rd., Flint with Pastor David Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, 1-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and 10 AM until time of service Tuesday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to United in Christ Lutheran Church. Carl was born August 6, 1917 in Bay City, the son of Paul F. and Augusta (Rhade) Steingraeber. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. Carl married Marion A. Remer on May 18, 1946 and she preceded him in death on March 23, 1997. Carl received a Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University and was an avid MSU sports fan. He retired from Chevrolet Metal Fab in 1981 after 38 years of service as the Superintendent of Industrial Engineering and held many other financial and manufacturing positions. Carl married Mary Jane Von Brockdorff on September 12, 1998. He was very active in his church, holding many positions in Bay City, St. Louis, MO and Flint. He was the treasurer of United in Christ Lutheran Church for many years and was active in bible studies among many other functions. Carl loved his church family. Surviving are: wife, Mary Jane of Swartz Creek; daughter, Carol and husband, Antonio Pinto of FL; grandchildren, Kristin and husband, Matthew Hockman of Troy and Brandon Pinto of Portage; great-grandchildren, Lucy, Kyle and Ryan; six step-children; 13 step-grandchildren and two step great grandchildren also survive. A great-granddaughter, Alaina Maria Hockman preceded him in death. Friends may share an online condolence on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
