SHUMAKER, Carl L. - Age 90, completed his life on earth and went home to join his Lord and Savior, his wife of 63 years, Geraldine McAra Shumaker, and other loved ones on Saturday, November 27, 2004.  Funeral services will be held at 1PM Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Dr. Roy C. McLaughlin officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Sunset Hills Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd. from 2-5 and 7-9 PM Monday and Tuesday, and on Wednesday at the church from 12 noon until service time.  For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the First Flint Seventh Day Adventist School Endowment Fund.  Carl was born March 16,1914 in Paulding, Ohio, the son of Emanuel and Mary Shumaker.  Carl lived and worked in the Flint, Swartz Creek area from the age of 16.  He married Geraldine McAra on November 5, 1938 in Ft. Wayne, IN.  Carl retired from  Carl Shumaker Oil Co. in 1979 where he served as founder and president.  Carl was a lifetime member of Swartz Creek Masonic Lodge 458, served on numerous school organizations and church committees in leadership positions and was a member of the First Flint Seventh Day Adventist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; daughter, Bonnie Shumaker Ezell; 11 brothers and sisters; grandsons, Eric Shumaker and Lon Carpenter.  Surviving are: 3 sons, Frederick J. and wife Carol Shumaker of Decatur, TN, Roderick J. and wife Colette Shumaker of Swartz Creek, Thomas J. and wife Yvonne Shumaker of Grand Blanc; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.  He will be greatly missed as a devoted husband, loving father, mentor and friend to many.
