GOLDFARB, Carl A. - Age 86 of Grand Blanc passed away at Genesys Health Park on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Graveside services will be held 12:30PM on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly. The family will receive friends at 11AM at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint, prior to processing to the cemetery for interment. Contributions may be made to the University of Michigan Club of Flint, MI. Carl was born in Flint on April 17, 1929. He graduated from Flint Central High School and won a National Merit Scholarship to the University of Michigan, from where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. During the Korean War he attended the U.S. Navy Officer's Candidate Program in Newport, Rhode Island, and served three years as navigator and legal officer on the USS Passumpsic. Carl's early business career was in the car wash industry where he operated several locations. In 1976, he changed careers and spent the next 30 years as a stockbroker and financial consultant. He met his beloved wife Patricia in 1979 at a duplicate bridge tournament and they married in 1981. Carl and Pat, avid but average bridge players enjoyed playing in local tournaments throughout the country. Carl was also an avid golfer. Never a low handicapper, he nevertheless really enjoyed battling it out on a regular basis at Atlas Valley and the Flint Golf Club with his late brother-in-law Milton Warren and close friends Bob Goldstein and Bob Barnett. Survived by children; Geoffrey (Cathy) Goldfarb, Evan (Dwayne) Goldfarb, William (Linda) Ross, and Susan (Daniel) Goode, sisters; Janet (Harold) Marks, Barbara Cooper, grandchildren; James Smith, Allison Ross, Macy Goldfarb, Taylor Schlosser, Jack Vorse, Lili Vorse, Billie (Damien) Sczepaniak, great-granddaughter Lita Sczepaniak, great-grandson Marek Sczepaniak, and also by his special friend Myra Garon with whom he loved to watch sunsets.
