Carl Conner

October 25, 1938 — June 1, 2016

CONNER, Carl Morrison- Age 77, of Swartz Creek, died peacefully Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, June 3 at the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Dr. Gary Glanville officiating. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service at the church on Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint or the Friends of International Academy of Flint. Carl was born October 25, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Morrison L. and Bernice B. (Shough) Conner. In 1958 he married Joyce Marilyn Brandt, his loving wife of 47 years, who died April 25, 2005. He graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in engineering. Carl was employed at the Architectural/Engineering firm SSOE, Inc. for 45 years as a Professional Engineer. He was a member of IEEE, ASHRAE, NSPE, and was past president of the Flint chapter of MSPE. He served two years of active duty in the US Army Reserve, stationed in Washington, DC. Carl enjoyed serving his community in many ways, as a member and past Chairman of the Swartz Creek Planning Commission, past vice chair of the FACC, member of the finance committees for the Genesee Chamber Foundation and the IMA, and as past chairman of the Norwegen Pine District, BSA. Since 1999, Carl had served on the Board for the International Academy of Flint. He was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church and served as a member of the finance committee. Carl enjoyed playing golf and card games with his friends and enjoyed trips to Israel, Germany, Russia, China, and the National Parks in the SW. Since his 50th class reunion from Woodward High School, he has continued to meet with some of his former classmates. Surviving are children, Jeffery M. Conner of Swartz Creek, David Conner of Linden, and Joseph and Julie (Conner) Wojciechowski of Ortonville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
