Calvin 'Bud' WARDIE

WARDIE, Calvin A. "Bud" - Age 83, lifetime resident of Linden, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Pastor Jack McMaster will officiate. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday, 11-1 & 4-8 PM Saturday. A V.F.W. Memorial service will be held 7 PM Friday under the auspices of Linden V.F.W. Post #4642. Those desiring may make contributions to the Linden V.F.W. or Kiwanis Club of Linden. Bud was born June 6, 1926 in Flint, the son of Joseph and Lila (Armstrong) Wardie. He was a 1947 graduate of Linden High School and was married to Marion Marble on June 19, 1948. Mr. Wardie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He was a life member of Linden V.F.W, where he was past commander. He was a member and past president of the Linden Kiwanis Club. He also served as president of the Even Dozen Club for many years. Mr. Wardie retired as shift superintendent from Fisher Body in 1981 with 34 years of service. Surviving are: wife, Marion; children, Marion Lynn Taylor, Gayle Ann Wardie, Matthew Ray Wardie; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a great great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Caleen Kristy Wardie in 1958; son, Craig Michael Wardie in 1975; grandson, Jeff McBride in 1989; brother, Joseph Wardie in 2005.
