Byron Smith

Smith, Byron Leonard - Age 81, of  Grand Blanc, died November 26, 2022. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Friday December 2 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM with a 7 PM Rosary Thursday December 1 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center,  6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc; and 9 AM until the time of the Mass Friday December 2 at the church. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, Waterford. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Byron was born October 16, 1941 in Highland Park, Michigan, the son of Leonard Smith and Hazel (Jacobs) Smith. He was a graduate of the Shrine of the Little Flower in 1959 and earned his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan in 1964. He married Germaine D. Osowski on August 24, 1963 at the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak . Byron retired from General Motors in 2000 with 41 years of service, having worked as an Engineer. He played Hockey all of his life. He and his wife Germaine enjoyed boating together for over 40 years.  Surviving are: wife of 59 years, Germaine; four children, Carl (Gwen) Smith of Rochester Hills, Gordon (LeeAnne) Smith, Amanda (Derald) Bauer of Saline, Heather (Neil) Pepllinski of North Barrington IL; grandchildren, Joshua, Emma, Sam and Abby; brother Truman Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bradley Smith and Grayson Smith.
