Burton Coon

COON, Burton Charles "Bud" - Age 94, of Linden, died June 5, 2017. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Pastor Calvin Walden will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12-3 & 5-8 PM Friday, with a Masonic Memorial service at 5 PM and from 11 AM until the time of service Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the VFW or American Legion of one's choice. Bud was born December 29, 1922 in Linden, the son of Ernest H. and Edna (Miller) Coon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII. Mr. Coon retired from General Motors (Chevy in the Hole) in 1980 after 39 years of service. He was a life member of Linden Masonic Lodge #132, Linden VFW #4642, Linden Kiwanis and Linden Sports Hall of Fame. He is survived by his son, David C. (Joyce) Coon; daughter, Peggy (Jerry Mitchell) Nuber; grandchildren, David M. (Amanda) Coon, Jasen A. (Amy) Coon, Luke J. (Krista) Nuber, Mathew A. (Charissa) Nuber, Monica (Chris) Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Bruce Leitkam and staff, as well as, the staff of Cranberry Park Assisted Living in Clio.
