Buel W. Jones

JONES, Buel W.  age 74, of Hillman, MI, died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at University Hospitals in Ann Arbor. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, March 13, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Roger L. Colby officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Saturday and 12-4 and 6-9 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Jones was born October 16, 1931 in Poplar Bluff, MO, the son of Robert C. and Irene (Fowler) Jones. He married Patsy A. Frierson on December 29, 1950 in Flint. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Central Michigan University and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was the co-founder, owner and operator of Genesee Packaging, Inc. for many years retiring in 1987. Mr. Jones served on the Health Plus of Michigan Board of Directors and had served as the Chairman and the Carmen-Ainsworth Board of Education for 17 years. Mr. Jones was active in the Genesee County Indian Association, the Red Feather (United Way) and was a Cub Scout Leader for many years. Surviving are: wife, Patsy A. Jones of Hillman; three children, Mike Jones and wife, Carol of Flushing, Cathy Jones Butler of Grand Blanc, Patti and husband, Mark LaHaie of Grand Blanc; four grandchildren, Brandon LaHaie, Rachel LaHaie, DeAnna Jones, Adam Jones; he was the guardian of two very special brothers-in-law, David Frierson and wife, Dolores of Flint, Thomas Frierson and wife, Debra of Flushing; sister, Betty Carder Kolenda; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Bea Allen, John and Sue White.
