Blanche Elizabeth TILLMAN

TILLMAN, Blanche E. (Dodds) - age 91, of Linden, died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden with Pastor Margo Kivisto officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Funeral luncheon afterwards at Linden United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Monday and 2-4 and 5-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Linden United Methodist Church. Mrs. Tillman was born May 6, 1920 the daughter of Arthur E. Dodds and Florence M. Lewis, North Branch, MI. She was married to Lyle L. Tillman August 15, 1940 in the parsonage of the United Methodist Church on Angola, IN. He preceded her in death in 1985. Blanche graduated form Flint Central High School Class of 1938. She attended the Business Department of General Motors Institute (Kettering) from 1938 to 1940. She worked at State Mutual Fire Insurance Company from 1939 to 1941, A.C. Spark Plug Glass Seal Department from 1941 to 1946, and Flint Bethlehem United Methodist Church as Church Secretary 1969 to 1985. She and her husband traveled across the US and Canada with their travel trailer in their early years. After retirement, She became a member of Linden United Methodist Church, Linden Senior Citizens, and traveled to many places including Alaska, British Isles and Hawaii. She enjoyed cheering for Jannell's sports teams especially the Davison Softball Team. She leaves one daughter, Jannell Tillman; sister, Beulah Hippensteel; sister-in-law, Delores Dodds; brother-in-law, Leon (Marilyn) Tillman; brother-in-law, Keith Tillman; aunt, Ruth Wick; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, including cousin Janet Michelman, Jolyn Vita, Julie Sturgis, and her friends at the Linden United Methodist Church.
