ALEX, Blanche Mary - Age 96, of Otisville formerly of Flint, died Monday, June 27, 2016. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, July 8, 2016 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4101 Calkins Road, Flint. Fr. Pierre Bassil celebrant. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to Our Lady of Lebanon, West Flint Animal Hospital, or the college fund for her great granddaughter, Madelyn Mercatante. Blanche was born January 18, 1920 in Wichita, KS, the daughter of John and Sadie Albert. She married Thomas J. Alex, Sr. April 1951.She had resided in Otisville for the past year coming from Flint. Blanche and her husband owned and operated Knob Hill Market in Flint for many years and he preceded her in death April 18, 2009. She was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church since it's inception in 1973. Surviving are: 2 children, Cynthia and husband Rod Wilson of Florida and Thomas Alex, Jr. of Otisville; grandchildren, Jessica Mercatante of Grand Rapids, Jeffrey Wilson of Flint, and Joshua Alex and fiancee' Sally Niec of Fenton; great granddaughter, Madelyn Mercatante; sister, Frances Khoury of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Wilma Albert of Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; and special four legged friend, Gus. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph, Raymond, and Ned Albert; sister, Helen Koury; daughter- in- law, Jann Alex.
