Billy Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Billy Gilbert - Age 77, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, April 2, 2020.  A  memorial service will be held 11AM Saturday August 21 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be 10AM until time of service at the church on Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association. Billy was born March 17, 1943 in Flint, the son of Ozro and Matilda (Thornberry) Lawrence. He was a 1961 graduate of Hoover High School in Flint. He married Claudia Janice Taylor May 16, 1964 in Flint. He retired in 1999 from GM Chevrolet as a tool maker after 37.3 years of service. Billy was a member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the U.A.W. Local 659. He was a runner and had run the Crim several times and the Boston Marathon twice. He also enjoyed golfing.

Surviving are: his wife of 55 years, Janice; daughter, Christine (Jeff) Plaxco of Howard City; son, David (Michelle) Lawrence of Jackson; grandchildren, Lee, Tyler, David, and Jonathan Plaxco and Taylor and Brady Lawrence; brother-in-law, Bill Bradford of Flushing; and several nieces and nephews.
