Billie Dean White, age 88, of Flushing, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Hyde Park Assisted Living, Flushing. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Friday, September 15, 2023, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hyde Park Assisted Living Employee Christmas Fund in memory of Bill. Bill was born on October 5, 1934, in Burton, the 6th child of the late Henry and Reva (Mallery) White. He graduated from Swartz Creek High School before he continued his education at Central Michigan Universityearning a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. Bill entered the United States Navy in 1957. He was on the USS Diamondhead with his brother, Dick, until his honorable discharge in 1959. Bill and Ellen Jane Haney were united in marriage on April 20, 1963, in Chesaning. He earned his master’s in education from Michigan State University while working for the Genesee Intermediate School District where he became the Data Processing Director.
He served as a former President of the Flushing Jaycees and State Treasurer for the Jaycees. Bill then followed his entrepreneurial spirit and founded Network Data Systems which produced auto insurance rating systems. He completed his career in the Information Technology department at Walled Lake School District earning a Golden Apple Award. In retirement, he built intricate dollhouses for each of his granddaughters, attended every family event that was planned, played cards at Flushing Valley and walked/talked every morning with his good friends. Bill loved his family and friends. Everyone who knew Bill will remember his smile, quick wit, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit. Bill was a kind and generous person who will always be missed.
He is survived by his son, William (Aeja) White of Grosse Pointe Farms; daughter, Julie (Matthew) Swiecichowski of Neenah, Wisconsin; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Robert and Larry; sister, Wanda and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen White; parents, Henry and Reva White; and brothers Don, Doug and Dick. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
