Beverly Jean Morris -- Age 96, of Grand Blanc, died October 10, 2024. Beverly was the daughter of Floyd and Florence (Tompkins) Phillpotts of Flint, was a graduate of Flint Central High School. While attending school she worked for Hamady Grocery and after graduation she worked in the offices of the Buick Motor Company. She met her future husband Kenneth Morris when he returned from service in the US Navy during the second world war. On April 22, 1950 they were married. Once Beverly and Kenneth started a family, Beverly left outside work to concentrate on the needs of her home, husband and children.
After marriage the family moved to Flushing, where they lived for 25 years. Upon Ken's retirement, he and Beverly relocated to Bradenton Florida, living there for several years. After Ken died, she returned to Michigan, living first in Grand Blanc, then at Rosehaven Manor in Flint.
Beverly took an active interest in state, national and world affairs and remained politically aware until the very end. Her mother was 21 and married before she got the right to vote, and like her mother Beverly never missed an election. But her main priority was always her family. For most of her married life Beverly was never far from the kitchen, where she usually could be found cooking something good.
Beverly's husband Kenneth preceded her in death by nearly forty years. Her sister Norma Van Natter died a few years ago and daughter Kelly Earegood also preceded her, passing in 2021. She is survived by daughter Patricia and her husband Delbert Smith, son Michael and his wife Lori, grandchildren Melissa (Shawn) Collins, John Morris (fiancee Elizabeth Landau), Steven (Morgan) Earegood and numerous nieces and nephews. Beverly was delighted by her great-grandchildren Boyd and Norah Collins.
According to Beverly's directions, her remains have been cremated and will be interred beside her husband in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint. Beverly was a very private person and disliked attention, so in accordance with her wishes, there will be no public service or gathering. Those desiring may make contributions to American Heart Association.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wellbridge of Grand Blanc and Compassus Hospice for their wonderful care of Beverly over the last 7 months. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
