BENSON, Beverly Bernice - age 68, of Linden, died suddenly, Monday, August 27, 2007. Services will be held 1 PM Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-9 PM Wednesday and 12-1 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Benson was born May 3, 1939 in Akron, OH, the daughter of Cecil S. and Bernice (Dahl) Bazley. She married LaVerne Benson on October 11, 1958 at Hurlbut Memorial Church in Chautauqua, New York. Beverly's family summered in Chautauqua each year, and she and Vern met roller-skating at Midway Park. They lived in New York for many years and moved to the Fenton area in 1972. Mrs. Benson was first and foremost a homemaker, but after her children were grown she worked for the Census Bureau and served as a Precinct Chairperson for Elections in Tyrone Township. She loved reading and visiting the local library. Beverly was a member of the Shiawassee Questers, the Holiday Ramblers RV club and was active in the Fenton Band Boosters and Flint Soap Box Derby while her children were in school. She collected horse and carousel horse memorabilia, and antique glass baskets. Beverly loved to travel and had visited every state in the USA except Hawaii. She and Vern camped with their RV club every weekend in the summer, and toured the south and southwest every winter. They enjoyed playing card games and visiting with friends and relatives near and far. Surviving are: husband, LaVerne "Vern" of Linden; daughter, Beth Benson and husband, Gary Brancaleone of Beverly Hills, MI; two sons, Keith Benson and wife, Melanie of Fenton, Todd Benson and wife, Charlene of Twinsburg, OH; five grandchildren, Dylan, Emily, Logan, Joseph and Isabella; her dog, Sadie Mae; two brothers, Cecil "Butch" Bazley and wife, Thelma of Lexington, OH, Richard Bazley and wife, Billie of Brevard, NC; brother-in-law, Marv Scriven of St. Petersburg, FL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Marjorie Scriven; two half sisters, Marian Marston and Jane Cross. Memorial contributions to the Genesee District Library.
