Betty Wehrli

Betty (Jones) Wehrli, age 82, beloved wife, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Bob, her parents B.J. and Miriam (Fitzhugh) Jones, her brother Ray Jones, her nephew Steve Jones and her grandson Alexander Gomez.  She is survived by her children Brenda Wehrli (Ed Gomez) and Brant (Cindy) Wehrli, grandchildren Joshua Wehrli and Spencer Gomez, her brother Jim (Annette) Jones, sister-in-law Myra Jones and many nieces and nephews.  Betty was a lifelong Christian and freely shared her faith with anyone who would listen.  She is an alumna of Flint Northern High School, class of 1957.  After raising her children, she furthered her education by earning an Associate Degree in Accounting from Baker College.  She was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and volunteered as church treasurer.  Early in her career, she held various sales position and spent the last 15 years with The Flint Journal, accounting department until she retired in 1994.


Betty loved Bible study and was especially pleased to be one of the founding members of Good News For Women, an interdenominational women’s Bible study, where she served on the servant's leadership team as treasurer.  Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her friends.  She enjoyed traveling and doing random acts of kindness.  Betty was a trusted friend, devoted mother and grandmother and a kind and loving person who always sought the best in others.


Betty's family will hold a visitation at Sharp Funeral Home, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, MI on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.  A memorial service will be held in celebration of Betty’s life immediately following the visitation at 11:30 am.  Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI will be held at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fenton United Methodist Church or Powers Catholic High School, Alec Gomez Fund or feel free to carry out a random act of kindness in her honor.
