THRASHER, Betty I Â Age 82, of Burton, died Monday, February 6, 2006 at Genesys Health Park. Cremation has taken place. Betty was born in Flint on November 8, 1923, the daughter of Laverne and Charlotte (Hammel) Burbank. Betty married Samuel Thrasher June 9, 1942 in Angola, IN. Betty and her husband recently retired after 60 years in the taxi business. Betty enjoyed piano and played bass in the Flint Symphony while attending Central High School. She is a graduate of Cleary College in Ypsilanti and served in the military during WW II. Surviving are: husband of 64 years, Samuel; one daughter, Shirley Pierce of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Dan Banta and wife, Karen of Clio, Thomas (Jerry) Banta of Mt. Morris, Stephanie Pierce of Charlotte, NC; sister, Florence Michael of Sarasota, FL; special aunt, Virginia Hammel of Flint; many nieces and nephews.
