Betty Jeannine Dearing was born in Flint, Michigan on November 23, 1929. Betty and her family moved to Success, Arkansas in 1942, working a family farm. On Easter Sunday, March 28, 1948, Betty married Adren Eugene Rider, Sr. in Success, Arkansas. Two years later they moved to Flint, Michigan. For 43 years Betty and Adren worked side-by-side in businesses they owned, Adren Rider Electric and Rider Custom Homes building approximately 1,200 homes and 3 churches. They retired in 2002.
Betty was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and faithfully served in many ministries including Girls Missionary Auxiliary, Sunday School, Children’s Worship, and choir. She loved reading and studying God’s Word and spent much of her time praying for her family, friends, and those in need.
Some of her hobbies and interests were traveling, family days at the lake, going “up north”, working in her flower gardens, bird watching and spoiling her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by many family members. Left to remember her as a loving and caring Mother, Grandma, Grandma Great, Sister and Aunt are: sons, Eugene (Isabelle) of Palma Sola, Florida; Jeffrey (Cathy) of Swartz Creek, Michigan; and Bruce (Stacy) of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren, Scott (Tess), Chad, Melissa (Matt Milligan), Ashley (Kevin Tormes), Amanda, Andrea, Courtney (Wes Christman), Michael (Fiancé Brooke), Allison and Alexander; great grandchildren, Madelyn, Kendall and Riley (Tormes), Sofia, Nora, Ezekiel, Joanna and Scottie Jeannine; sister Sue Banasiak; several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Adren of 64 years, parents Irvle and Gladys (Moore) Dearing; and siblings Howard, Dennis, Jeff, and Joyce Williams.
Betty was a generous gift giver, so we ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice.
