Betty Lou Nickels

NICKELS, Betty Lou - Age 89, of Durand, died Friday, November 17, 2006 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 20, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Rd. Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6 to 8 P.M. tonight and Sunday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Memorial gifts in Betty's name will be accepted by her family. Betty Lou was born July 27, 1917 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of Frank and Cora (Dill) Corwin. She was a member of UAW Local 591, Durand VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Durand Senior Citizens, RSVP and Durand Swinging Seniors Band. She was also Past President of Durand Eagles Club.  Betty Lou was named 'Mother of the Year' in 1983 by Durand Eagles. Surviving are 2 children, Durinda and husband Norman Wilkinson of Durand, Lucinda and husband Jerry White of Columbia, TN; 8 grandchildren, Robert, John and Tim Bell, William and James Young, Jerry J. White, Jeffrey and Jody Wilkinson; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, David Corwin of Williamston, OH; sister, Wauneeta Reichenbach of North Baltimore; half-brother, John Corwin of Trenton. She was preceded in death by 3 husbands, Guy Jones in 1960, Cecil Munson in 1975 and John Nickels in 1999; 3 brothers and grandson, Joseph Wilkinson. Betty's family would like to thank Dr. Chinna Kotla, Genesys  Home Hospice and nurses Cheri and Tammy for all their wonderful help and kindnesses.
