MESSENGER, Betty J. - a long time resident of Grand Blanc died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Grand Blanc Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born in Buffalo, NY on December 1, 1923 and moved to Jackson, MI at a very early age. She graduated from Jackson High School in June 1941. She was wed to Robert D. Messenger on January 12, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1973. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the McLaren Hospital Auxiliary, both in Flint. She was employed at the Chestnut Tree in Grand Blanc for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Diane and her husband, Gary Buck of Hudson, FL; four grandchildren, Kristin and her husband, John Little of Bloomington, IL, Amanda and her husband, James Beagle of Flint, Marie and her husband, Nathaniel Jacob of Port Ritchie, FL and Wendy Messenger of Tawas City; two grandsons, Robert D. Messenger III and wife, Tracy and Adam Messenger and wife, Laura, all of Flint; five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; very special friends, Kristina Feller and Jane Matthews, both of Grand Blanc. Her son, Robert D. Messenger, Jr. preceded her in death on May 14, 2002. In accordance to her wishes, she has been cremated and there will be no funeral service, as she would like her family and friends to remember her alive and smiling.
