Betty Jo was born on August 26, 1937 in Weeks, Arkansas. She started her adult life as a wife and mother of four, she took care of her husband and children for many years before she started her career with General Motors at the AC spark plug plant in Flint Michigan for more than 30 years. While at General Motors Betty was involved in the GM / UAW Work Life Program, as well as assisting in recruiting members during the opening of the Dort Federal Credit Union. Upon her retirement from General Motors Betty began working a 2nd career as an auditor on behalf of the Genesee Intermediate School District. Upon full retirement Betty continued to care for and support her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for the rest of her life. Betty enjoyed spending her free time developing her passion for many forms of needle work, she was known for her beautiful cross stitch as well as her amazing gift for quilting and crocheting the most beautiful afghans. She was often requested to make clothes and costumes for her grandchildren. She even took a year to create and crochet an Irish lace wedding dress for her daughter Dana. Her family has kept the majority of her creations as keepsakes. Betty had always said she never wanted to sell her work. She felt that selling her creations would make it a job and it would no longer be a pastime she loved. Betty was known to be incredibly generous and loving to a fault. She had a very fiery and matter of fact attitude. She was so quick witted and she lived her life to the absolute fullest and did it “HER WAY”. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Otti Grace (Johnson) Livengood, her siblings Fern, Vern, Ray, and Vera, as well as her great grandson Joseph. In addition her best friend and neighbor of many years Ed Rozyla on October 12, 2022. Betty is survived by her children; Tera McNea of Swartz Creek, Ronald McNea jr. of Gaines, Richard (Karen) McNea of Flint and Dana (Raymond) Choate of Taylor Michigan. Also surviving are many grandchildren; Nick, Teala, Ronald, Jennifer, Jill, Raymond, Matthew, Dionna, Kayce, and Mary-Jo. As well as numerous Great Grandchildren; Connor, Wren, Elodie, Isaiah, Yliana, Noah, Kyleigh, Katelyn, Jacob, Henry, Ricky, Sean, Caleb, Denea, Devri, Dezmon, Keira, Keirstin, and Kyler. Betty's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thankfulness for the excellent care Betty received while at the Suger Bush Assisted living facility, and personally thank her personal caregiver Ce Ce (Linda) and clinical manager Sara.
