DECKER, Betty Jean - Age 85, of Fenton, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, November 28, 2020, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St, Fenton. (Live streaming of the Funeral Mass may be viewed on Betty's page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Fenton. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Friday from 1-8 PM where a rosary service will be held at 7 PM and at church Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to the Leroy Decker Scholarship Fund c/o Fenton High School.
Betty was born July 14, 1935, in Bannister, the daughter of Louis and Stella (Luznak) Sipka. She was a 1953 graduate of Elsie High School. She married Leroy Decker August 7, 1954, in Bannister, and he preceded her in death April 21, 2008. She retired in 1997 from Dr. Ambler, DDS, as the office manager after 24 years. Betty was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton. Betty was an active member of the BPW (Business Professional Women’s Organization) for many years. She assisted in developing scholarships for continuing education for women. She enjoyed bowling in community leagues with friends and will be remembered as a fierce competitor. Betty also enjoyed traveling with her late husband and attending sporting events to cheer on her family. She would always have a bag of goodies and cookies for her family and their teammates. Betty will also be remembered for her baking and cooking abilities. She is famous for her macaroni and cheese, baked beans, chicken and dumplings, and her impeccable sugar cookies! She loved to entertain. Most importantly, Betty will be remembered for her feisty spirit, her loving heart, and her endless love of her family.
Surviving are: her children, Debra Coleman (Ed) of Holly, Darby Decker (Julie) of National City, and Drew Decker (Karen) of National City; grandchildren, Lisa Taylor (Nate) of Clio and their children, Alaina and Addison Taylor, Derek Hillman (Wendy) of Clarkston and their children, Derek Hillman (fiancee', Katie Vanwagoner) and their child, Evelynn Grace Hillman, Anna Hillman, Anna Thomas, and Jenna Thomas, Nicole Foor (Randy) of Fenton and their children, Chloee, Kirsten, and Randie Foor, Nicole Coleman (Fiance', Scott Wawrzyniak) of Pinckney, Darby Decker II (Kate) and their children, Devri and Voddie Decker both of East Tawas, Desiree Decker of Clinton Township, Drew Decker (Ashley) of Tawas, and Dylan Decker of Grand Rapids; brother, Louis Sipka of Owosso.
