Betty Cooney

COONEY, Betty June - Age 91, of Flint, Michigan, our dearest mother, grandmother, and friend, went to be with the Lord, November 3, 2019. She passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, November 9, 2019 at Holy Redeemer Church, 1227 E Bristol Rd, Burton. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Friday, November 8, 2019, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. In lieu of flowers, family appreciates contributions to Michigan Lyme Disease Association, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Betty was born September 15, 1928 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Donald and Elmenia Ford. She married the love of her life, John Cooney Sr., in June of 1961. Betty will fondly be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed crocheting, playing board games, euchre, poker, and yahtzee. In addition, she enjoyed trips to the casino with family and friends, as well as working in the garden. She was employed at Michigan Bell Telephone for 32 years, retiring in 1981. Betty is survived by her children, Kim Cooney, John (Jackie) Cooney Jr.; grandchildren, Alison, Kelsey, and Jack; close relatives, Mary Owens, Kathleen (Frank) Desrochers, Theresa Cooney; many nieces and nephews; many close friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Sr.; brother, James Ford; parents, Donald and Elmenia Ford.
