Betty Marie Coggins

COGGINS, Betty Marie - age 92, of Fenton, formerly of Midland, TX, and Punta Gorda, FL passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held at 10 AM until the time of Mass at the church on Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to The American Legion.

Betty was born April 30, 1932 in Flint, the daughter of Abraham and Neta (Hewitt) Reiter. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School. Betty was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War. She was married to Norman Martin Coggins in Flint on August 4, 1956; and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1989. Betty was a Pharmacy Technician for Perry Drugs. She was a member of the American Legion Post 103 Punta Gorda, Florida Auxiliary. Betty was also the Vice Commander of the 13th District of the American Legion in Florida. She enjoyed golfing, teaching work out classes, and playing the lotto, especially scratch off tickets.

Surviving are: her children, Michael (Lorilyn) Coggins, Jon (Mary) Coggins, Kathryn (Alex) Moravec, Linda (LaVelle) Earl, and Thomas (Irene) Coggins; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Neta Reiter; her twin sister, Barbara Dubovski, and her brother, Thomas Reiter.
