Betty was born on February 15, 1929, to the late Herman & Tillie (Hefner) Stanke one of 11 siblings. She attended Utley High School, class of 1947. Betty married the love of her life, John Byers, on September 18, 1954, in Angola, Indiana. Betty was a bold, hard-working woman. She was every bit of an entrepreneur; as she owned and operated many businesses throughout her life such as a bar, a greenhouse and served as a landlord. She also was employed with AC Delco for 17 years before retiring in 1967. Betty's hard work was truly reflected in her high standard of cleanliness. There was only one was to clean and it was "Betty's Way". One might say she could polish a dust ball. She especially liked to fish and enjoy nature. Those who knew Betty best knew that under the hardworking, strong and independent appearance of hers was a soft heart full of generosity.

She is survived by her loving son, John (Valery) Byers; grandsons, Kevin (Megan) Spencer II, Shawn Woodin and Randy Jr. (Sue) Woodin; 6 great grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, Noah, Felecia, Oaklee and Deklyn; great great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Damion, Mayah, Colton, Shylynn and sister, Barbara Medina. Betty is further survived by many dear nieces, nephews, family members and friends too numerous to list but never forgotten.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Woodin Sr; daughter, Michelle "Shelly" Spencer; granddaughter, Brandy Byers; 3 sisters and 6 brothers. As well as many beloved furry companions throughout her years.
