Betty Burroughs

BURROUGHS, Betty Jean- age 90, of Suttons Bay, formerly of Flint, died Monday, April 25, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 28 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 East Broad Street, Linden. Deacon Ron Kenney officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be held 3:30 - 8:00 PM Wednesday and 10 AM until the time of service on Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to Angels of Hope (www.angelsofhope.org). Betty was born March 8, 1926 in Flint, the daughter of Thomas and Frances (Hand) Riley. She graduated from Flint Tech in 1945 and received her Bachelor's Degree from U of M. She worked as an RN at McLaren Hospital. Betty married George Hubbard Burroughs on December 5, 1980 and he preceded her in death on May 18, 2005. She was an active duplicate bridge player and enjoyed traveling and fly fishing with her husband, George. Betty is survived by her children, Dean and friend, Susan Brown of Omena, Mick and wife Betty Thompson of Swartz Creek, Suzanne and husband, Pat Starrs of Linden; step-children, Joanne Scarbrough, Joseph Burroughs and Susan Fauth Cross; grandchildren, Rodney, Rhonda, Ryan, Chrissy, Keith, Chad, Maria, Andrea and Allie; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Joyce and Marleen; brother, Danny. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ivan Anderson and Walter Thompson; step-son, Carl Chapell; grandchildren, Brandon Anderson and Isabella Ward.
