Bettie Price

Price, Bettie Jane- age 92, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Flint, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Bettie was born December 6, 1930, the daughter of Robert M. Robinson and Marjorie E. (Chaffee) Robinson. Born in Owosso, raised in Davison, she was a 1949 graduate of Davison High School.

In 1952 Bettie joined the US Navy where she met her husband Lowell Gene Price, a fellow serviceperson. They were married in Norfolk, Virginia and spent 69 happy years together.

Bettie and Lowell made Flint their home. Bettie was a longtime member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church, ministering in the church nursery for many years. Throughout her life she was an active volunteer in the community serving as a teacher’s aide at Cody Elementary School, a childcare provider at the Durant Tuuri Mott Children’s Health Center in the Children’s Corner, a docent for Crossroads Village, and helping out at the City of Flint Greenhouse. She was also a loving foster parent to Laurie and Dee Ann.

In her later years she enjoyed quilting and reading. When her eyesight began to fail she turned to books on tape which gave her many hours of enjoyment.

Surviving are: husband, Lowell; two daughters, Bonnie Desai of Chelsea and Mary (Nick) Calandro of Fenton; three grandchildren, Alexander (Amy) Desai, Emerson Desai, and Walker Desai; siblings Joanne Bond, Donald (Linda) Robinson, Cecile (Victor) Wells, Joy Robinson, and David Robinson. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews. Bettie was preceded in death by her brother Robert J. Robinson and her son-in-law Ravi Desai.

A funeral service will be held 11AM Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430. Internment will follow at Union Plains Cemetery in Byron. Visitation will be held from 10AM -11AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
