SEDLAK, Bessie E. (Betty) passed away peacefully on June 11, 2009. According to her wishes, Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, June 15, 2009 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Fr. Steven Mattson Celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-8 PM, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a vigil service will be held at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held from 9 AM until the time of mass on Monday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Bessie was born April 21, 1918 in Vernon, MI. to Fred and Antonio Konecny and graduated from Vernon High School and Owosso Business College. She and John Sedlak were married on February 22, 1941. John and Betty lived in Europe for nine years where Betty served as a Red Cross volunteer while living in Evreux, France. Betty was a volunteer at Flint Osteopathic Hospital and was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary and Saint Mary's Church. She is survived by one son, David and wife, Sharon of Lake Orion, daughter-in-law Leslie Sedlak of Grand Blanc, three grandchildren: Carrie and Steven Blair of Linden, MI and St. Louis, MO, respectively, Matthew of Sacramento, CA. and Katherine of Lake Orion; three great grandchildren: Caelum, Keegan, and Taeghan of Linden, one sister Lily Benjamin of Swartz Creek, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, son Michael, her parents, and three brothers, Ben, Jerry and Martin Konecny.
