Bessie Kemp

KEMP, Bessie Catherine "Cathy" - Age 93, of Flint, passed away November 15, 2021 Private services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc.  Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc.Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice. She was born in Bay Springs, MS and raised in Oak Grove and Goodwill community, LA, the daughter of Charlie Clyde and Bessie M. (Jourdan) Shoemaker. She had a great sense of humor and loved to kid around, raise a garden and can.  One summer she canned 500 jars.  She also loved to work and did not retire until age 75 and complained that she didn't have anything to do. She worked for a family in Grand Blanc for close to 20 years that she thought the world of. She is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Poock; nephews and nieces, Glen (Linda) Taylor, Jesse Clyde (Anntoinette) Shoemaker, Toni Shoemaker Whitley; special grandson, Joe (Tara) Esposito; special friend (like a sister) Laura Palmer; several - great nieces and nephews. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver C. "O.C." Kemp; son, James Oliver "Rusty" Kemp, granddaughter, Ramonda J. Poock; son-in-law, David W. Poock; parents; siblings, Mary Ruth Taylor Allred, Jesse Edward Shoemaker, Norma Jean "Jeanie" Newton-Green; nieces and nephews, Mickey Taylor (Vickie McIntyre Taylor), Holly Shoemaker Rogers, Richard Shoemaker, Ronnie Newton, Rodney Newton.
