BOWDEN, Bernita Elaine- Age 88, passed away peacefully at home in Lennon on February 10, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will be held 5-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Lennon Fire Department or the Lennon United Methodist Church. Bernita was born October 18, 1928 in Lapeer, the daughter of the late Harry E. and Gertrude R. (Rubbert) Marble. She married Dexter Bowden on June 9, 1951 in Lennon, and he preceded her in death on November 13, 2014. Mrs Bowden owned and operated the Lennon Department Store for 32 years and enjoyed working with stained glass. She loved gardening, dancing and being up north at their cabin, but most of all being with family. Surviving are: son, Richard (Kelly) Bowden of Lennon; daughters, Diane M. (Terry) Kindell and Julie K. (John) Bohan both of Colorado; grandchildren, Dustin, Tricia Bowden; Andrea, Ryan, Benjamin, Brooke, Tyler Schreiner; Hank, Jacque Kindell; Megan and Justin McQuaig; many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Mickey (Sally) Marble of Idaho; sisters, Marion (Calvin) Wardie of Linden, Carolyn Marble of Birch Run, Wilma (Louie) Young of Rankin; many nieces and nephews.
